The purpose of this policy is to formalize the existing requirement for vendors doing business with the city to provide a completed and signed W-9 IRS tax form prior to payment being issued. Vendor types include individuals/sole proprietorships, corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and others specified by the internal revenue service. This policy ensures that the city has on file correct and accurate contact information and taxpayer identification numbers for vendors so that the city can issue annual tax statements per IRS requirements.
