LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCIES: Those situations when life is in danger if immediate treatment is not received. These include unconsciousness, uncontrolled bleeding, severe respiratory distress, major burns, spinal cord injury, shock or life threatening poisonings. In a life threatening emergency, call 9-1-1, go to McKay-Dee Hospital emergency room or to the nearest emergency facility.
URGENT SITUATIONS: Those requiring immediate care but are not life threatening. Examples include fractures or injuries which may require sutures. (Eff. 3-14-2007)
