1500-4: PROCEDURES:
   A.   Equipment Operations:
      1.   Daily:
         a.   Check oil level (engine and transmission).
         b.   Check coolant level.
         c.   Check lights.
      2.   Weekly:
         a.   Tires and wheels: Check pressure and do a visual check for wear, splits, bulges, etc.
         b.   Battery: Check the water level and the terminals for corrosion.
         c.   Power steering: Oil level.
         d.   Brake and clutch: Fluid levels.
         e.   Belts: Check for fraying and tension.
         f.   Air brakes: Drain tanks.
         g.   Hydraulics: Oil levels.
         h.   Interior and exterior: Should be cleaned weekly.
         i.   Check preventative maintenance (PM) sticker (front window top left corner).
   B.   Care Of Equipment:
      1.   Do not leave a vehicle unattended with the engine running.
      2.   Do not leave a vehicle idling for more than three (3) minutes for gas engines and ten (10) minutes for diesel engines.
      3.   Do not leave material/equipment loose in vehicles. This can cause serious injury.
      4.   Do not leave an unattended city vehicle unlocked.
   C.   Detection Of Malfunctions Or Defects:
      1.   The care of Ogden City's vehicles and equipment is the responsibility of each operator/driver.
      2.   It is unwise for you to operate a vehicle/equipment with a known defect or malfunction. If there is a problem with the vehicle/equipment, please report it as soon as possible to the fleet division.
   D.   Procedures For Initiating Repairs:
      1.   If a vehicle accident has occurred follow the reporting accidents and damage to Ogden City vehicle policy 1510.
      2.   Call or drive vehicle to fleet division.
      3.   Complete fleet work order request form (fleet form: policy 1510). (Eff. 3-14-2007)
