1103.04 IDENTIFICATION; INSPECTION.
   All insulation shall be identified, inspected and approved as follows:
   (a)   Identification. Containers of fill type insulation shall have the name of the manufacturer and trade name of the insulation. The installer shall affix one of these labels on the building adjacent to the installation, together with the specified thickness of insulation, "R" value, and manufacturer's recommended installation density. All other types of insulation shall be labeled with the name of the manufacturer, trade name or product, specified thickness and "R" value (a reflective surface may omit the specified thickness). The required labeling shall occur with sufficient frequency to be readily observable.
   (b)   Inspections and Approval. Insulation shall be inspected and approved by the Building Department prior to covering or concealment. It shall be the duty of the person to whom the building permit was issued to provide certification and data sufficient to assure that the insulating material complies with the foregoing requirements and to give notice to the Building Official when the installation is ready for inspection.
Exception. Retro fitting type materials (i.e., blown or foamed) may be inspected according to accepted industry practice.
