§ 153.11 SWINGING DOORS.
   All swinging doors shall comply with the following provisions.
   (A)   Swinging wooden doors shall be solid core with a minimum thickness of one and three-eighths inches or shall be covered on the inside face with 16- gauge sheet metal attached with screws at six-inch spacing around the perimeter.
   (B)   A single door, the active leaf of a pair of doors and the bottom leaf of a Dutch door shall be equipped with either a double dead bolt or a single dead bolt having a one-inch throw and a hardened insert. A combination dead latch and dead bolt may also be used. The lock shall be key operated from the exterior side of the door and may be engaged or disengaged from the interior side of the door by a device not requiring a key, special knowledge or effort.
   (C)   Nonremovable pins shall be used in pin-type hinges which are accessible from the outside when the door is closed.
   (D)   Door stops on wooden jambs for in-swinging doors shall be of one-piece construction with the jamb or shall be joined to the jamb by a rabbet.
   (E)   Cylinders shall be designed or protected to prevent their accessibility to gripping tools.
   (F)   An interviewer or peephole shall be installed in the main entrance door of all dwelling units.
   (G)   The inactive leaf of a pair of doors and the upper leaf of a Dutch door shall be equipped with a dead bolt as set forth in division (B) above, except as follows.
      (1)   The bolt need not be key operated but shall not be otherwise activated from the exterior side of the door.
      (2)   The bolt may be engaged or disengaged automatically with the dead bolt or by another device on the active leaf or lower leaf.
      (3)   Manually operated hardened bolts at the top and bottom of the leaf which embed a minimum of five-eighths of an inch into the device receiving the projected bolt may be used when not prohibited by the International Building Code, as adopted in § 151.001, or other laws and regulations.
