§ 1511.01 WHERE REQUIRED.
   (a)   Each new and existing structure used for multiple-family or unrelated person’s occupancy shall have installed in each living unit therein an approved fire detection product of combustion system. Such smoke detectors shall be capable of sensing visible or invisible particles of combustion and providing a suitable audible alarm thereof. They shall be installed by 7-1-1983, in the manner hereinafter provided. Failure to install smoke detectors in and where required by such date will subject property owners to penalties set forth in § 1511.99 of this article.
   (b)   Each new and existing public building, used for the assembly of the public, either in dining, recreation, entertainment or any building used to assemble the public not herein specified, shall have installed therein an approved fire detection product of a combustion system. Such smoke detectors shall be capable of sensing visible or invisible particles of combustion and providing a suitable audible alarm thereof. They shall be installed by 7-1-1983, in the manner hereinafter provided. Failure to install smoke detectors in and where required by such date will subject property owners to penalties set forth in § 1511.99 of this article.
   (c)   Upon remodeling any single dwelling or the construction of a new single dwelling, where there is any change in the interior design of the dwelling the owner shall have caused to be placed therein an approved fire detection product of the combustion system. The smoke detectors shall be capable of sensing visible or invisible particles of combustion and providing a suitable audible alarm thereof, in the manner hereinafter provided. Failure to install smoke detectors in and where required by said construction will subject the property owner to penalties set forth in § 1511.99 of this article.
   (d)   Installation and location of the detectors shall conform to NFPA Standards and Specifications Number 74 of the National Fire Codes, 1979.
