§ 157.24 VACATION.
   (a)   Vacation benefits. Permanent, full-time employees are eligible for the following vacation benefits:
      (1)   Five paid vacation days after the completion of six months of continuous service;
      (2)   Ten paid vacation days after the completion of one year of continuous service;
      (3)   Any employee existing as of the effective date of this section shall be eligible for 12 paid vacation days after the completion of two years of continuous service;
      (4)   Fifteen paid vacation days after the completion of five years of continuous service;
      (5)   Twenty paid vacation days after the completion of ten years of continuous service;
      (6)   Twenty-five paid vacation days after the completion of 20 years of continuous service; and
      (7)   Thirty paid vacation days after the completion of 30 years of continuous service.
   (b)   Vacation use limits and carry-over days. Permanent, full-time employees are eligible to use their vacation after six months of employment with the Town of Nutter Fort. Vacation days must either be taken by the end of the calendar year for which they are earned or may be purchased by the Town of Nutter Fort in accordance with this section. Vacation days will not be carried over unless special circumstances warrant approval by the Mayor. Carried-over vacation days must be taken within the next calendar year.
   (c)   Unused vacation days at end of calendar year. Employees who have vacation time remaining at the end of a calendar year shall be compensated by check for the unused time.
   (d)   Unused vacation days at time of termination. Employees who have been laid off, discharged, retired or separated from employment with the Town of Nutter Fort will be compensated by check for any unused vacation time earned and accumulated at the time of separation.
   (e)   Vacation policy, Maintenance Department. 
      (1)   Prior to April 1, vacations will be scheduled on the basis of seniority. After this date, scheduling will be on a “first come first serve” basis.
      (2)   For all vacation time to be taken, a written 48-hour notice will be required and must be approved by the Maintenance Supervisor. Vacation may be denied in an emergency.
