721.04 LICENSING OF TAXICABS.
   (a)   Application for a Taxicab License shall be made through the Office of the Director upon such forms and containing such information as directed by that Office. The Director may charge an application fee.
   (b)   Prior to the issuance of a Taxicab License, the applicant shall show proof that the vehicle has satisfactorily passed a safety inspection not more than thirty (30) days prior to the application. Such safety inspection shall be in a manner and to the extent determined by the Director. The cost of the inspection shall be borne by the applicant.
   (c)   Taxicab licenses shall be valid for one (1) year, subject to renewal. Prior to renewal, all taxicabs shall undergo a safety inspection as provided above in subsection (b) no more than thirty (3) days prior to renewal.
   (d)   The Director shall refuse to issue or renew a Taxicab License to any vehicle where, based upon the safety inspection of the vehicle, the Director determines the vehicle to be unsafe or unfit.
   (e)   Upon receipt of a complaint that any taxicab issued a license pursuant to this Chapter is unsafe or unfit, the Director shall notify the owner of such taxicab of such complaint and require the owner to present the taxicab to the Director for verification. If the Director finds the complaint to be substantiated, the Director require the owner to correct the unsafe or unfit condition, submit the taxicab to a safety inspection as provided in subsection (b), and to show proof of such satisfactory inspection within ten (10) days. The failure of the owner to present the taxicab for verification, to submit the taxicab to a safety inspection, or to present proof of a satisfactory safety inspection we provided in this subsection shall result in the suspension of the license for such taxicab.
   (f)   The Director shall issue to all vehicles licensed as taxicabs a sticker in such design and form as determined by the Director to be affixed to the vehicle in accordance with Section 721.05. (Ord. 2017-028. Passed 10-22-17.)
