§ 35.02 POLICE CHIEF.
   (A)   There is hereby created the position of Police Chief.
   (B)   Powers and duties of this position shall be as set forth in Chapter 36, App. A, § 6.
   (C)   The Police Chief shall be appointed by the Mayor. In order to qualify for appointment as Police Chief, the candidate shall:
      (1)   Be able to read and write the English language intelligently;
      (2)   Be moral, sober, and sagacious;
      (3)   Not have been convicted of a felony; and
      (4)   Be at least 21 years old.
   (D)   The Police Chief shall take an oath to faithfully perform his or her duties. The oath may be administered by a judge, clerk of the court, notary public, or justice of peace.
   (E)   Before entering on the duties of his or her position, the Police Chief shall be bonded with a corporate surety authorized and qualified to become a surety bond in this state in the amount of $1,000.
   (F)   Compensation for this position shall be established by City Council as provided in the city’s compensation plan.
   (G)   The personnel rules and regulations of the city shall apply to this office.
