1488.04 PARKING AND SERVICE STATION ACCESSORY OCCUPANCIES AND USES.
   (a)   An open parking garage shall not have any other occupancy above the garage.
   (b)   Car washing, as an accessory service, shall be permitted. Combustible materials shall not be used for this or any other purpose in an open parking garage.
   (c)   In an open parking garage, gasoline or other flammable liquids, except where expressly permitted in the Fire Prevention Code or this Building and Housing Code, shall not be handled or stored other than in the tanks of vehicles, or be transferred in the open air from one container to another, except in one-gallon quantities in an emergency. Gasoline tanks, piping and pumps shall not be placed nearer than fifteen feet to any open side or basement of an open parking garage.
   (d)   An office, accessory to the retail sale of gasoline as regulated by this Building and Housing Code and for the incidental sale of oil, antifreeze, tires and small vehicle accessories, may be located within an open parking garage, provided the office is separated from the garage by fire-resistant partitions, floors and ceilings, each having a fire-resistance rating of not less than two hours. All doorways and other openings in such partitions shall be protected by doors having a fire-resistance rating of not less than one hour and all such doors shall be equipped with approved self-closing devices.
   (e)   A gasoline service station in which services and activities are performed, other than those normally or expressly permitted, shall not be located nearer to an open parking garage on the same lot than is permitted with respect to lot lines under Section 1488.05.
