1442.04 HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING CALCULATIONS.
   (a)   Estimating Heat. The methods which shall be used in computing the minimum amount of heat, in British Thermal Units (BTU) per hour, which must be supplied or generated within any building to maintain the inside temperature hereinafter stipulated with the outside temperature and wind movement, shall be governed by The Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning Guide (1967 Edition). The inside temperature shall be measured at a height of three feet above the floor level and not less than three feet from any outer exposed wall. The procedure which shall be followed in estimating the heat required for warming buildings shall be as follows:
      (1)   The inside air temperature at a three-foot level which is to be maintained in the building during the coldest weather is seventy degrees Fahrenheit.
      (2)   The outside air temperature which shall be used for design purposes shall be taken as minus five degrees Fahrenheit.
      (3)   Any exceptions to the above shall be documented by either the owner or the designer.
   (b)   Air Conditioning. Plans and calculation methods to construct and install systems designed to produce the service and results required under the Ohio Building Code, when applicable to a building having the specific use or occupancy under consideration, shall be governed by standards prescribed in the OBC and Section 1442.11 of these Codified Ordinances. Plans shall be submitted to the Superintendent of Building and Zoning Inspection for approval. Deviation from standards shall be documented by either the owner or the designer.
