There is hereby established the position of Assistant Street Superintendent.
The Assistant Street Superintendent shall be appointed by the Mayor, upon the advice and consent of Council. Such appointment shall be for a one-year term ending on December 31 or the due appointment for the succeeding term, whichever occurs later. Any vacancy in the office is to be filled by the Mayor for the unexpired term, upon the advice and consent of Council. The Assistant Superintendent shall work a minimum work week of forty hours and shall be compensated at such hourly rate as determined by Council. The Assistant Superintendent shall work under the direct authority and supervision of the Superintendent and exercise such duties and responsibilities as are from time to time delegated to him.
