5-1-2: CHIEF OF POLICE:
   A.   Appointment: The Police Department shall be under the charge of the Chief of Police who shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the City Council.
   B.   Duties:
      1.   Generally: The Chief of Police shall be responsible for the performance by the Police Department of all its functions and all persons who are members of the department shall serve subject to the orders of the Chief of Police. He/she shall keep such records and make such reports concerning the activities of the Police Department as may be required by statute or by the City Council.
      2.   Custodian Of Stolen Property: The Chief of Police shall be the custodian for the City of all lost and abandoned or stolen property and shall deal with the same in accordance with the ordinances of the City and Statutes of the State. (Ord. O-20-2013, 10-7-2013)
   C.   Deputy Chiefs Of Police, Commander And Administrative Assistant:
      1.   Positions Created: There is created within the Police Department the positions of two (2) Deputy Chiefs of Police, Commander, Administrative Commander and Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police. One Deputy Chief of Police and the Administrative Commander shall be a sworn or nonsworn position at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
      2.   Appointment: The Deputy Chiefs of Police, Commander, Administrative Commander and Administrative Assistant positions shall be appointed by the Chief of Police with the approval of the Mayor.
      3.   Duties: The Deputy Chiefs of Police, Commander, Administrative Commander and the Administrative Assistant shall perform such duties as prescribed by ordinance and the Chief of Police. (Ord. O-06-2019, 4-1-2019)
