No person shall go in or upon private residential premises, not having been requested or invited to do so by the owner or occupant of such premises, for the purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, wares, merchandise or services or for the purpose of selling such goods, wares, merchandise or services.

The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to the incidental solicitation and sale of merchandise by religious or charitable organizations provided that such solicitation and sales are made by bona fide members of such religious or charitable organization. The burden of proof of exempt status under this section shall be upon the person claiming such exempt status. (Ord. 5-1971. Passed 2-22-71.)
