Every person convicted of violating any provision of section 7-1-1 of this chapter (the Illinois motor vehicle code, as incorporated by reference into this code by the foregoing said section 7-1-1) shall be punishable by one or more of the following dispositions as are authorized for such offense by reference to the Illinois motor vehicle code and as may be determined by the court:
A. Such maximum fine as authorized by reference to the Illinois motor vehicle code. (1977 Code § 10-1-2)
B. A term of incarceration, either periodic or continuous, in a penal institution other than the penitentiary as authorized by reference to the Illinois motor vehicle code. (1977 Code § 10-1-2; amd. 2004 Code)
