The fire department shall consist of sworn full-time city employed firefighters and officers organized into companies and administration necessary to protect the lives, properties and chattels of the citizens of Nicholasville, organized as required by state and federal regulations. The number and make-up of these companies shall be led and managed by the fire chief and shall be approved by the city commission as they deem necessary.
