The Police Committee (as appointed by the Mayor), directly or through the Chief of Police, shall supervise the conduct of all police officers of the City, examine the grounds of all reasonable complaints made against any of them, and cause all violations of duty to be promptly punished or reported to the Civil Service Commission; provided, that the Chief of Police shall report promptly all action taken by him under this section to the Police Committee.
