(A) Non-accessory directional and informational signs shall contain no more than directions to, or information relative to, public and semi-public uses or for public purposes. No advertising copy of any kind in any form shall be permitted. Highway directional and informational signs erected by any state, county or local governmental agency shall not be included in these regulations.
(B) The signs shall conform to the following.
(1) Signs containing similar messages shall be located no closer together than 500 feet.
(2) The display surface area shall not exceed 24 square feet.
(3) Maximum height shall not exceed six feet, except as provided herein below.
(C) A portable or temporary sign may be used for 90 days prior to construction of permanent directional or informational signs.
(D) The top of the sign may extend to a height of 15 feet if it is constructed as a freestanding sign.
(E) When the sign is attached to a building at the bottom of the display surface, it shall be subject to height regulations for accessory signs established in § 155.29 of this chapter.
