339.12 MAXIMUM VEHICULAR WEIGHT.
   (a)   The operation or movement of any and all motor vehicles of a size or weight or load of five tons or more on any residential street within the corporate limits of the Village at any time is strictly prohibited.

   (b)   The Mayor and/or the Chief of Police may grant a permit for a single or round trip or for such period of time that in his discretion deems advisable or for the duration of any construction project. The Mayor and/or Chief of Police may limit or prescribe terms or conditions of operation for such vehicle or combination of vehicles by designating the route, hours, speed or such other restrictions as may be necessary for the preservation of the public peace, property, health and safety. Variation of any of the materials, terms or conditions of the permit granted by the Mayor or the Chief of Police shall be cause for immediate revocation or suspension of the subject permit and/or denial of request for any future permit.
   (c)   The Mayor and/or the Chief of Police shall direct signs to be posted indicating "No Vehicular Traffic of Gross Weight Ten Tons or Over" or words of similar import to apprise drivers of the limitations imposed by this section. No driver or person shall disobey the instructions indicated on any such sign.

   (d)   The Mayor and/or Chief of Police may further limit operation and movement of any and all motor vehicles of a size or weight or load of five (5) tons or more on any residential street within the corporate limits of the Village if it is determined that such further restriction is necessary for the preservation of the health, safety or welfare of the citizens of the Village or the preservation of the infrastructure of the Village. In order to have full force and effect, the Mayor and/or Chief of Police shall direct signs to be posted indicating “No Vehicular Traffic of Gross Weight 5 Tons or Over” or words of similar import to apprise drivers of the intentions imposed by this section. No driver or person shall disobey the instructions on any such sign.

   (e)   Whoever violates this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree punishable by a fine up to five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisoned in jail for up to sixty days, or both.
