(a) Any officer or member of the Fire Department may be temporarily suspended without pay by the Fire Chief, subject to the approval of the Mayor, for disobedience of the orders of superior officers, or the rules and regulations of the Fire Department, or for disorderly conduct, or neglect of duty, provided, however, that no one suspension shall be for a longer period than thirty days.
(b) Any officer or member of the Fire Department may be permanently removed from the Fire Department for bribery, misfeasance, malfeasance, nonfeasance, misconduct in office, gross neglect of duty, gross immorality or habitual drunkenness by the authority and in the manner provided by the statutes of Ohio.
