(A) Pursuant to I.C. 36-8-9-1, there is hereby established the Town Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners and the provision of I.C. 36-8-9-1 et seq. are herewith adopted.
(B) The office of the Town Marshal is herewith abolished.
(C) The Board created by division (A) above shall be composed of three members appointed in accordance with I.C. 36-8-9-3.1(a)(1)(A).
(D) The term in office of a Board member shall expire on January 1 of the third year after the members appointment, except that the initial appointments to the Board shall be staggered with the initial appointment of one member being appointed for a term of one year, one member being appointed for a term of two years and the third member being appointed for a term of three years. After the initial appointment, the appointments to the office shall be for a term of three years.
(E) Pursuant to I.C. 36-8-9-3.1(b) up to three members of the town legislative body may serve as members of the Board subject to the restriction of I.C. 36-8-9-3.1(a)(1)(A).
(F) In the event a member of the Board is also a member of the town legislative body, such member may complete the appointed term even if such member ceases to be a member of the town legislative body.
