The waters of Teal Lake have been used as a water supply for the residents of the city for drinking and other human consumption. Although the city is now supplied with water from underground sources through the Negaunee-Ishpeming Water Authority, it is the purpose and policy of the city to retain the capability of resuming the use of Teal Lake as its water supply in the event of emergency or other unusual circumstances. It is the intention of this subchapter to ensure the continued purity of the waters of Teal Lake for said purposes.
