2-2-4: AUTHORITY; DUTIES:
The Hotel-Motel Tax Board shall have the following authority and duties:
   A.   To recommend to the City Council the use and allocation of the Hotel-Motel Taxes to promote tourism and conventions or otherwise to attract non-resident overnight visitors to the City;
   B.   To use allocated funds for that purpose, keeping all expenditures within budgeted amounts and accounting for all expenditures;
   C.   To review the actual expenditures of the Hotel-Motel Taxes, determine whether the expenditures have met their required purpose, and submit quarterly reports on the expenditures to the City Council;
   D.   To recommend to the City Council the hiring or retention of service providers, including, but not limited to, an event planner or tourism director, to assist the City in promoting tourism and conventions and in attracting non-resident overnight visitors to the City;
   E.   To assist with the hiring or retention process, as requested by the City Council, such as by preparing job descriptions, advertising open positions, gathering applications, and contacting and interviewing applicants;
   F.   To oversee and evaluate the performance of any retained service providers by providing monthly evaluation reports to the City Council (on or about the first of each month), with recommendations for changes or other action; and
   G.   To exercise any other authority or responsibilities delegated to it and permitted by law. (Ord. 2017-7, 8-8-2017)
