2-2-2: MEMBERSHIP; TERMS OF OFFICE:
Membership in the Hotel-Motel Tax Board shall consist of seven (7) citizens of the City, including two (2) City Council members. The remaining members should be made up of one representing bed and breakfasts, two (2) from the hotel-motel industry, one from the food service industry and one from a retail establishment. The City Council may waive the industry requirements if qualified members cannot be found. Members shall be appointed by the Mayor.
Members will serve terms consisting of two (2) years. The terms of each of the seven (7) appointed board members shall be staggered such that three (3) or four (4) board members will be replaced each year. The method for staggering the terms of said board members shall initially be determined by authorizing the Mayor to ask each of the seven (7) initially appointed board members to draw lots such that the initially appointed board members shall have a term of one or two (2) years. After the initially appointed board members have completed their terms, all successive board members shall have a term of two (2) years.
The Mayor of the City shall not appoint any member of the Hotel- Motel Tax Board for more than three (3) consecutive terms; however, nothing in this chapter shall prohibit a former member of the Hotel-Motel Tax Board from being reappointed after the expiration of two (2) years from the date said member last served on the board. The City Council may waive the consecutive term and the two (2) year reappointment restrictions if qualified members cannot be identified. The Mayor shall appoint a new member to serve any unexpired term. (Ord. 2004-16, 3-24-2005)
