No person or entity shall operate a bed and breakfast or guest suite establishment unless that lodging establishment complies with the fire prevention and safety requirements of the state of Illinois. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the owner of such an establishment for which a special use permit is in effect as of the effective date of this chapter shall have until May 1, 2012, to comply with the requirements of this chapter, unless a different compliance date is required by state law.
