6-7-1: ADDRESS NUMBERS ON BUILDINGS:
To provide for the safety of the citizens and visitors to the city of Nauvoo, to facilitate emergency services arriving as efficiently as possible, every building with a use and occupancy classification shall be designated by affixing the street address numbers to the building.
The address numbers shall be a minimum height of three inches (3") of Roman block type font in contrasting color done in a professional type manner as to be clearly visible from the roadway. Any bushes, shrubs or other obstructions shall be of a size as not to interfere with the visibility of the numbers on the building.
In cases where the building is such a distance from the roadway, or in the outdoor museum district, a final determination shall be made by the public safety committee as to whether a post shall be so placed at the end of the driveway with such numbers affixed to the side so that the numbers are visible from either direction. The numbers on the post shall be no lower to the ground than thirty two inches (32") or higher from the ground than forty eight inches (48").
In the outdoor museum district, a plaque with the street address numbers may be placed underneath the sign or plaque which designates the name of the building.
In cases of mobile homes in a mobile home park, each individual mobile home shall have a lot number securely affixed to the side of the mobile home that faces the roadway. The numbers shall be no less than three inches (3") in height of Roman block type font done in a professional type manner and clearly visible from the roadway.
In the case of apartment buildings, the apartment building itself shall have address numbers in a professional type manner so as to be clearly visible from the roadway and at a minimum height of three inches (3") of Roman block type font, and the individual interior door shall have an apartment number at least three inches (3") in height and of contrasting color affixed to the exterior of the apartment door which shall correspond to the current 911 address for the apartment.
In the case of the temple house village, each exterior building shall have a number at least three inches (3") in height and of contrasting color and shall be numbered as if each individual location was an apartment.
In cases of RV parks, each lot shall be numbered with a lot number no less than three inches (3") in height and of contrasting color on a post no less than twenty four inches (24") in height placed in a location as to clearly define each lot/site. A site map containing the name of the RV campground and lot numbering system shall be furnished to each of the emergency services in the city of Nauvoo. This shall not include the Nauvoo state park camping area.
This section shall become effective sixty (60) days after passing. Any individual, partnership, firm, corporation, business, lessee, or person responsible for the property shall be fined five dollars ($5.00) per day after a seven (7) day notice has been given to the occupant that the property is in noncompliance with this section.
