§ 97.05 POSTING OF DESIGNATED NUMBERS.
   (A)   The owner or occupant or person in charge of any house, building, mobile home or other structure to which a number has been assigned shall:
      (1)   Within thirty (30) days after notification of such number assignment, affix the number in a conspicuous manner, in a conspicuous place.
      (2)   Within the same thirty (30) days remove any different number, which might be mistaken for or confused with the number assigned to the structure by the issuing authority.
   (B)   Each principal building or structure shall display the number assigned to the face of the building. In case the principal building or structure is occupied by more than one business or family dwelling unit, each separate front entrance must display a separate number.
      (1)   Numerals indicating the official numbers for each principal building, or each front entrance to such building, shall be posted in a manner as to be legible and distinguishable from the street or road on which the property is located, with numbers applied, of not less than three inches (3") in height.
      (2)   Mailboxes not attached to the principal structure shall be marked with the house number.
      (3)   If the structure is not visible from the street or road on which it is located and no mail box is beside the driveway leading to the structure, a sign or number post shall be erected to display the number. The number may be displayed either vertically from the top down or horizontally.
      (4)   Conspicuously placed reflective yard signs with letters of not less than three inches (3") shall be acceptable in place of attaching house numbers to the structure or mailbox.
   (C)   Official city street/road signs (white letters on green background) will be used to mark only those streets/roads that have been legally named by the City Council. Signs used to identify private drives will not be allowed to look like official city signs. This will prevent confusion, which could keep emergency personnel from reaching other residents in the shortest possible time.
   (D)   This section is limited to the structures in the city lying inside the corporate limits of the city. Structures outside the corporate limits of the city shall be controlled by the ordinances and regulations of Calloway County. Numbers will be assigned by the Murray Planning and Engineering Department.
