(A) Effective January 1, 2005, the pay for the members of the Murray City Council shall be $300 per month.
(B) (1) Effective January 1, 2007, city Council members shall be allowed to be absent from two council meetings a year without a reduction in salary. In the event a council member is absent from more than two council meetings a year, their salary shall be reduced in the amount of $150 per council meeting missed. If the absence is the result of a catastrophic illness, the decision as to whether or not a council member receives payment shall be in the sole discretion of the Mayor.
(2) In the event the absence is due to city related business, that absence will be exempt, and will not count toward the two allowed absences.
