§ 50.021 SPECIFICATIONS FOR BUILDING SEWERS.
   (A)   Sewer materials. The building sewer shall be cast iron soil pipe, ASTM A-74, latest revision; vitrified clay sewer pipe ASTM C-13, latest revision; asbestos-cement sewer pipe ASTM C-428, latest revision, or its approved equal. Plastic pipe shall have the National Sanitation Foundation label on the pipe barrel and the pipe shall comply with Commercial Standards CS-272-65 or CS-270-65.
   (B)    Sewer size and slope. The size and slope of the building sewer shall be subject to the approval of the Superintendent. In general, the building sewer shall be the same size as the service branch, but in no event less than four inches in diameter. The slope of the four-inch building sewer shall not be less than l/8-inch per foot or l%, and the six-inch sewer not less than 0.6% slope.
   (C)    Sewer placement. No building sewer shall be laid parallel to or within three feet of any bearing wall which might thereby be weakened. The depth shall be sufficient to provide a minimum of 18 inches of cover over the pipe. The building sewer shall be laid at uniform grade and in straight alignment insofar as possible. Changes in direction shall be made only with properly curved pipe and fittings. In all buildings in which any sanitary facility drain is too low to permit gravity flow to the public sewer, sanitary sewage carried by the drain shall be lifted by approved artificial means and discharged to the building sewer at the expense of the owner. The drain pipe and sump for collection of sanitary drainage shall be above the basement floor or in separately watertight or drained sump or channel. Floor, basement, or crawl space drains which are lower than ground surfaces surrounding the building shall not be connected to the building sanitary sewer. No sanitary inlet which is lower than six inches above the top of the lowest of the two adjacent public sanitary sewer manholes shall be connected by direct drainage to the building sanitary sewer.
