§ 50.138 SINGLE METER SERVING MULTIPLE OCCUPANTS.
In the event that two (2) or more tenants or occupants of different rental units of property are served by a single water meter, the water and sewer rentals and charges shall be billed as if each individual user was on a single meter. Each unit shall constitute a separate user and shall be billed as such, in any event, not less than the minimum rate per unit set forth in §§ 50.130 and 50.133. In the event that the multiple users exceed the monthly minimum rate, all additional water shall be billed in proportionate amounts as determined by the number of users divided by the quantity of water used by the multiple users, without regard to the actual amount of additional water used by a particular multiple user. However, any customer may file an application for a separate water meter for each unit, and upon payment of the applicable fees and deposits, the city shall install a separate water meter for each unit. In this instance, the applicant will then be billed at the water rates applicable to the usage of water service disclosed by a separate meter or meters.
