(A) The rates and charges for water supplied by the waterworks system of the city within the corporate boundaries of the city are hereby fixed and established on a monthly basis beginning July 1 each year as follows:
(1) Minimum Water Rate. The minimum water bill shall be the sum of $26.99 per month, and each water customer shall be entitled to 2,499 gallons or less of water in each month for such minimum charge.
(2) Water Rates for Usage in Addition to Minimum Charge. For each 1,000 gallons, or part thereof in excess of 2,499 gallons the rate of $6.91.
(B) The City Council does hereby adopt the following charges for water consumption outside the corporate limits of the city. The minimum bill for water usage is the sum of $30.19 per month, which entitles the user to use up to 2,499 gallons. The rate established for further water consumption shall be as follows: For each 1,000 gallons, or part thereof in excess of 2,499 gallons the rate of $8.59.
(C) The city may automatically increase the water rates each time that the Louisville Water Company increases the cost of the water that it provides to the city, so long as the water rate increase is no more than the percentage increase charged by the Louisville Water Company plus that year’s Consumer Pricing Index. The city’s water service customers shall be notified of such rate increase at least one (1) month prior to the rate change taking effect. Any rate increase in an amount greater than what is charged to the city by the Louisville Water Company plus that year’s Consumer Pricing Index must be approved by the City Council.
