129.031 CALCULATING AGE OF APPLICANTS WITH PRIOR LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE FOR ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT TO POLICE DEPARTMENT.
   Applicants over thirty-five (35) years old will be considered for an original appointment to City Police Department if they are a current certified OPOTA law enforcement officer and are currently employed full time in a law enforcement capacity as a peace officer as defined in Section 2535.01 of the Ohio Revised Code. An applicant who meets the listed criteria shall have their years of service with the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund, Ohio Public Employment Retirement System - Law Enforcement, and/or Ohio Highway Patrol Retirement System deducted from their age at the time of application with the City. If their age minus years of service is thirty-five (35) or less, they will be entitled to apply. The maximum credit of years of eligible service given to any candidate will be fifteen (15) years.
