(a) Any municipal employee who has suffered pecuniary loss by reason of service on active reserve duty with the armed forces of the United States, shall be paid by the City, an amount equal to the amount of his regular City salary wages, less any and all amounts paid to him during such period of active duty by the government of the United States.

(b) Such compensation shall be paid for any period of active duty not to exceed thirty-one days in any calendar year.

(c) Compensation under this section shall be paid by the Auditor out of the proper salary fund to such employee only after satisfactory proof of the amount of compensation paid to such employee during his period of active reserve duty has been submitted to, and approved by, the Director of Public Safety and Service.
