CITY POLICIES
Prior to doing any work or the furnishing of labor or material by the city for any person, such person shall deposit with the city the amount of money estimated by the City Manager to cover the cost of the work, labor, material and contingencies. If there remains a surplus of funds, the same shall be returned to the depositor; and if there is a deficit, such deficit shall be promptly paid.

No agent or employee of the City of Mount Pleasant shall purchase for, or on behalf of, the city any supplies, goods, wares, merchandise, motor vehicles, motor vehicle parts or services from any person who owes delinquent taxes to the city or who may be in arrears for two months with the city on any other debt.

No motor equipment, motor vehicles, motor graders or street, water and sewer equipment belonging to the city shall be used for any private use or purpose or any use other than that of the city, except with consent of the City Council; provided, however, that police cars and fire trucks may be used in the city, on permission of the City Manager, for such civic functions as parades.

The city shall indemnify and hold harmless any final claim not covered by insurance against any officer or employee arising within the scope of duty or employment of the officer or employee with the city.
