§ 98.27 NOTICE TO REPAIR; WORK DONE BY CITY.
Whenever the Director of Public Works shall determine that a sidewalk is unsafe for use, or required to be constructed for the public safety, the Director of Public Works shall give written notice to the owner or occupant of the abutting premises, to repair within 30 days. Alternatively, the Director of Public Works may repair or construct the sidewalk if, in the Director's opinion, the sidewalk condition is unsafe and dangerous and requires immediate repair to assure public safety and to prevent the possibility of city liability for personal injury or property damage. Upon failure of the owner to repair the sidewalk within 30 days, the Director of Public Works shall cause repairs to be made and shall provide a report to the Commission of the cost and expense of performing such work, which costs and expense shall be charged to the owner or occupant.
