(A) The Village of Moweaqua ("village") is committed to adhering to lawful and ethical behavior in all of its activities and requires its officials, employees, and contractors to act in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Village officials, employees, and contractors shall observe the highest ethical standards in conducting their duties and responsibilities on behalf of the village.
(B) This whistleblower policy ("policy") has been drafted to establish policies and procedures to uphold the foregoing standards: prevent, detect, and correct improper activities; encourage each village official, employee and contractor ("reporting individual") to report what he or she in good faith believes to be a material violation of law or policy; facilitate resolution of reports received under this policy; and protect reporting individuals from retaliatory action.
