§ 32.002 DEFINITIONS.

   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.

   FELONY. An offense punishable by death or by incarceration in the penitentiary; a MISDEMEANOR is any offense which is not so punishable.

   MAGISTRATE. Is defined by R.C. § 2931.01 as including MAYOR. The term MAGISTRATE, where used in the following sections, may be considered to include MAYOR.

   JUSTICE OF THE PEACE. R.C. Ch. 1907 to 1921 create in each county a court known as the county court. The office of justice of the peace, and the justice of the peace court have been abolished. The term JUSTICE OF THE PEACE or reference to the justice’s courts in the following sections may be considered to refer to county judges and county courts.

   VENUE. The territorial limits, within the county or municipality, of the Mayor’s jurisdiction.
