(a) It shall be the duty of the Combined Fire Department to answer all calls to service within the Village of Mt. Gilead and those local subdivisions and townships with which the Department has a contract. The Department shall also answer calls to service with the Departments with which they have mutual aid agreements.
(1) It shall be the duty of the Fire Department to operate, maintain and display all fire and emergency apparatus, building and equipment owned by the Village.
(2) It shall also be the duty of the Fire Department to help in the prevention of fires and the protection of life and property against fire.
(3) It shall be the duty of the Fire Department to provide critical risk reduction under the guidance of the Administration Code 1301.7, Ohio Fire Code.
(b) Emergency Medical Services.
(1) There is hereby created an Emergency Medical Services within the Fire Department, hereinafter referred to as EMS. The EMS is authorized to provide emergency medical services to its residents or non-residents within the border of its fire district and townships with which they have a contractual agreement for fire coverage. The EMS is placed under the direction of the Fire Chief. The EMS shall provide supplemental care and emergency medical services in conjunction with the Morrow County EMS or its mutual aid partners.
(2) In the interest of providing the best care for those who require EMS assistance patients will be transported to the most appropriate facility dependent upon their needs. The appropriate facility will be dictated by the Ohio Trauma Triage Protocol, the Medical Director, and any standing orders, policies, protocols, o procedures defined by the Morrow County EMS.
