5-1-14: HEAT DETECTION IN ATTACHED GARAGES:
   A.   Heat alarms shall be installed in all new enclosed attached residential garages and:
      1.   Heat alarms shall be approved and inspected by the City of Mountain Home Building Official or their designee.
      2.   Heat alarms shall be UL Listed and comply with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 72.
      3.   Heat alarms shall be interconnected in such a manner that the actuation of any alarm device will activate all of the alarm devices in the individual dwelling unit and garage.
      4.   Heat alarms shall receive their primary power from the building wiring where such wiring is served from a commercial source and, where primary power is interrupted, shall receive power from a battery. Wiring shall be permanent and without a disconnecting switch other than those required for overcurrent protection.
      5.   Heat alarms shall be installed no closer than 3 feet to vents and/or fluorescent lighting.
   B.   Exceptions:
      1.   Heat alarms shall be permitted to be battery-operated where installed in a building without commercial power. (Ord. 1770, 3-28-2023)
