The permittee shall restore the surface of all streets and alleys broken into or damaged as a result of the excavation work, to its original condition in accordance with specifications provided by the city public works department. The permittee shall maintain the resurfacing of said excavation in its condition prior to the excavation for a period of one year, normal wear and tear excepted. If the city is required to restore or repair the surface of the street or alley after any excavation, the permittee shall promptly pay to the city the cost of such restoration or repair.
