If all work cannot be finished the same day it was started, the contractor that was issued the permit shall be responsible to provide adequate signing and traffic control as required by the latest edition of the MUTCD (manual of uniform traffic control devices) and shall maintain the excavation site in a smooth and appropriate manner to allow traffic to cross the excavation at legal speeds without noticeable effects. Failure to comply with this requirement shall be considered a misdemeanor and subject to punishment as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code. (Ord. 1440, 3-27-2006)
