§ 32.002 INDEMNIFICATION AND LEGAL DEFENSE OF OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES.
   In the lawful and good faith performance of the function and duties of their respective offices and employment and enforcement of the code of the municipality and all the laws, ordinances and resolutions and regulations of the municipality as a part thereof, the officers and employees of the municipality act as agents and representatives and police officers of the municipality and are entitled to all rights, privileges and immunities to their persons and properties as are accorded by the laws of the state. No officer or employee is or shall be held personally liable by any person for any claim or loss arising from or out of the lawful and good faith performance of the duties and functions of that office or employment. The municipality is authorized to and shall defend the officer or employee against the same, providing legal counsel as necessary to the defense and pay the losses and damages as may be necessary to hold the officer or employee free of claim therefor.
