No person shall park a vehicle, boat, trailer or other item upon or within 100 feet of any street or highway for the principal purpose of displaying such vehicle or item for sale. Nothing contained herein shall prohibit the display of vehicles or other items for sale in residential zones where the vehicle or other item is displayed upon the owner’s premises or upon a street or roadway abutting said premises, subject to § 70.23 of this code.
