§ 33.28 RETENTION OF SERVICE WEAPON, BADGE AND ID.
   When an eligible merit police employee of the County Sheriff’s Department retires after at least 20 years of service to the County Sheriff’s Department, he or she is eligible to retain his or her standard service weapon and receive a “retired” badge in recognition of his or her service to the Department and the public. Upon retirement, the Department shall issue to the retiring employee an identification card listing the officer’s name, rank, retired status and authorizing the officer to retain his or her service weapon.
