§ 33.25 SHERIFF’S RESERVE.
   (A)   The Sheriff of the county has authority to provide for a police reserve which shall be known as the County Sheriff’s Reserve.
   (B)   The number of such reserves shall be fixed at a number not to exceed 40; provided, however, that the Sheriff at his or her discretion may have any lesser number of reserves.
   (C)   Such reserves shall be under the control of the Sheriff of the county, who shall determine the necessary training for such reserves, provide standards of proficiency and skill, and all such reserves shall serve at the pleasure of the Sheriff and shall be subject to dismissal by the Sheriff at any time he or she shall see fit and without cause.
   (D)   Such reserves shall wear such uniform as the Sheriff shall prescribe; provided, however, that the uniform worn shall be discernable from regular deputies in any manner the Sheriff shall deem proper.
   (E)   Such reserves shall be subject to the same standards of conduct as regular deputies; provided, however, the Sheriff may make such additional rules and modifications of such rules as he or she shall deem necessary and such rules applicable to reserves shall be furnished to such reserves.
   (F)   Any person appointed as reserves shall be appointed by the Sheriff of the county subject to confirmation by the County Sheriff’s Merit Board.
   (G)   Any such reserve deputy shall be subordinate in authority to any regular deputy in event the regular deputy is present at such time and place.
   (H)   Any reserve deputy shall be no less than 21 years of age, a continuous and bona fide resident of the county for more than one year prior to such appointment as a reserve deputy, and shall have no conviction of a felony or crime of moral turpitude.
   (I)   The county may provide uniform allowance, insurance protection, and the use of equipment and vehicles under control of the Sheriff’s Department.
   (J)   Such reserve deputy shall have the same police powers and authority as a regular deputy; provided, however, such authority may be restricted by rules provided by the Sheriff as heretofore set forth.
