§ 30.11 PUBLIC MARKING OF COUNTY MOTORIZED VEHICLES AND MOTORIZED HEAVY EQUIPMENT.
   (A)   All county-owned motorized vehicles and motorized heavy equipment for use on or for maintaining public roadways, unless exempted in this section, shall be conspicuously marked in a way that clearly identifies the vehicle as a public vehicle.
   (B)   For purposes of this section, a MOTORIZED VEHICLE shall mean any self-propelled, wheeled vehicle designed for transportation of people or cargo. MOTORIZED HEAVY EQUIPMENT shall mean any self-propelled, wheeled heavy vehicle designed for work on construction projects on public roadways and related uses.
   (C)   Identifying text markings shall be of contrasting color to the vehicle or equipment and not less than three inches in height or the county logo, as adopted by the Board of County Commissioners or other departmental logo or insignia provided it is at least 12 inches in diameter and displayed on both sides of the vehicle in contrasting colors with the words "Morgan County" and the department assigned the vehicle or equipment.
   (D)   For county-owned vehicles not assigned to a specific office, it shall be compliant to utilize the county logo, as adopted by the Board of Commissioners, and displayed on both sides of the vehicle in a diameter of at least 12 inches. Markings identifying a specific department is not required for vehicles not assigned a specific office.
   (E)   For small vehicles or motorized equipment, for use on public roadways, that for structural reasons cannot be marked in the manner described above, they shall be marked with letters of contrasting color, with a height of not less than three inches, the words "Morgan County," with the department name assigned the vehicle or equipment. For example, a bulldozer may be compliant with simple, contrasting color lettering reading: "Morgan County Highway Dept."
   (F)   As part of the public marking requirement, all motorized vehicles and motorized heavy equipment shall also be marked with an identifying number, corresponding to a documented inventory system. Such numbers shall be clearly visible, in a contrasting color, and at least three inches in height, unless for structural reasons, a lessor height should be necessary. The identifying number shall be placed on the left side of the vehicle and on the rear of the vehicle.
   (G)   For purposes of this section, only vehicles or mobile equipment utilized in the following circumstances shall be exempted from the public marking requirement set forth in this section.
      (1)   Sheriff Department vehicles used in investigations or for clandestine purposes;
      (2)   Vehicles utilized by court services, probation or community corrections used solely in an undercover or confidential manner; or
      (3)   Vehicles utilized solely for confidential public health work.
   (H)   All motorized vehicles and motorized heavy equipment markings required under this section shall be maintained in a legible condition at all times.
   (I)   The requirements in this section shall be in effect for all vehicles and motorized equipment for use on public roadways, unless exempted, owned on, and after, May 1, 2019.
