(A) An inmate processing fee shall be established in the sum of $25, which shall be assessed by the County Sheriff each time a person is processed or booked into the county jail.
(B) The County Sheriff shall have the authority and discretion to waive said fee in instances where the person booked into the county jail is indigent.
(C) The inmate processing fee shall be collected from all inmates who are booked into the county jail on or after the effective date of this section.
(D) The inmate processing fee shall be collected by the County Sheriff before the inmate is released from the county jail from any funds held on deposit by the Sheriff in that inmate’s commissary fund, or may be paid directly by or on behalf of the inmate.
(E) The funds collected pursuant to this section shall be deposited into the County General Fund.
