1331.07 U.S. EPA CERTIFICATION IN LEAD SAFE WORK PRACTICES.
   Each contractor that performs renovation, repair or painting projects in a home constructed before 1978 and is required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule, set forth in 40 CFR 745, Subpart E, to be certified in lead safe work practices shall submit a copy of such certification to the Building Commissioner prior to the issuance of the registration by this Chapter.
   Any contractor claiming that the work to be performed is exempt from the Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule shall submit a written statement stating the reasons for the exemption. A registration shall not be issued, if in the opinion of the Building Commissioner, the contractor is required by federal law to be certified in lead safe work practices.
