(a) Non-exempt Service Department employees may elect to take compensatory time off in lieu of overtime pay for any overtime worked on a time and one-half basis. The employee is permitted to use the compensatory time at the employee’s discretion within a reasonable time after the time the compensatory time is earned and provided the absence due to the compensatory time will not unduly disrupt the department’s operations. Compensatory time off may be used in increments of not less than one hour.
(b) Service Department employees may accrue up to a maximum of forty (40) hours of compensatory time in lieu of overtime pay during a calendar year. Accumulated compensatory time must be used by December 31st of the same year or the additional time shall be paid as overtime. Upon termination of an employee’s employment with the Village, unused accumulated compensatory time shall be paid as overtime.
