At the Regular Organizational meeting (See Section 3.9), Council shall choose one of its members as Deputy Mayor who will exercise all powers and perform all duties of the Mayor in case of an absence or disability. In the event that the Deputy Mayor is temporarily absent or disabled, Council will choose one of its members to temporarily fill the Deputy Mayor position. Should the office of Mayor become vacant, the Deputy Mayor will assume the authority and duties of the Mayor until the person elected to serve the remainder of the unexpired term takes office. Upon the Mayor's request, the Deputy Mayor may assist in the performance of certain duties ordinarily performed by the Mayor. (Amended 11-04-2003; 11-06-2018)
